it was a dark and stormy night - Ghosts of Harvest Past
14" x 18" inkjet reproduction on premium matte poster paper enclosed in clear protective envelope. Note: this is not archival quality.
This was the final iteration of the NVHT project that I staged at Midlothian Castle in Burk's Falls Ontario during Harvest Fest. This was a bit of a guerilla art installation in that I was not being paid and not particularly welcome that year. The organizers did however graciously offer me a free ticket to Harvest Fest so I am grateful for that and I am also grateful to have had a chance to build this final (and my favourite) installation. This piece is actually the final culmination of all the years work that I put in to that area of forest at Midlothian. Everything I had done previously led up to this final piece and it is one of my best works. I constructed a new string NETTT overtop of the old one leaving the old decaying strings. I set up the black lights in the forest at around midnight on Saturday during the peak of the festival. It was cold and wet. This is the spot where I had always had my installation but it was filled with large puddles of water now. It was also foggy which just added to the spookiness - even though I was surrounded by a full scale forest rave. It was a very significant moment in my art career.
